Hawaiian Barbecue Pizza

My favorite pizza crust topped with barbecue sauce, pineapple, ham, bacon and lots of cheese. This unique and flavorful Hawaiian-style bbq pizza is always a hit with our family!



I’m back with another pizza recipe! This sweet & tangy pizza is one of my favorites, and probably one of the easiest to make. You don’t have to worry about doing anything fancy for the sauce, all you need is a bottle of BBQ sauce. Easy, right?

We’ve made this pizza a few times this summer and it never disappoints. We love adding grilled chicken to it (I like to toss it in a bit of sauce for even more flavor) when we have it on hand, but it’s just as delicious without it. Don’t forget to sprinkle a bit of chopped cilantro and crushed red pepper flakes on it after it cools, you’ll be glad you did! Enjoy.😋🔥

Ingredients

Deselect All

1 pound refrigerated pizza dough, at room temperature

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 pineapple, peeled, cored and cut into rings

1 bunch scallions, green parts finely chopped

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

1 tomato, diced

1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese (about 4 ounces)

1/2 cup shredded muenster cheese (about 2 ounces)

1/4 pound deli-sliced ham, cut into large pieces



Directions

1)      Put an inverted baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 475 degrees F. Line another inverted baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush the dough with the olive oil and center it on the parchment. Cover with another piece of parchment; set aside.

2)      Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the pineapple rings until marked, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate. Grill the scallion whites, turning, until charred, about 4 minutes. Transfer to the plate with the pineapple.

3)      Combine the barbecue sauce and tomato in a small bowl. Stretch the pizza dough to 10 by 14 inches on the parchment; spread the barbecue sauce mixture on top. Sprinkle with the pepper jack and muenster cheese and top with the grilled pineapple, ham and scallion whites and greens.

4)      Slide the pizza (on the parchment) onto the hot baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer the pizza to a cutting board and slice.
